Born and raised in Buffalo NY.

 

Studied Tap Dancing in grade school.

 

His mother ( Gwen ) had her own singing radio show entitled "Singing w/ Gwenie ".

 

His father ( Marty ) was quarterback for Manhattan College football team.

 

First performed in numerous Buffalo high school musicals including Oliver, Hello Dolly and Fiddler on the Roof.

First vocal solo was  New York, New York in 1976 with the St. Joe's Swing Choir.

 

Hosted his own radio show entitled "Impressions" for 2 years in high school.

 

1982 Northwestern graduate with a double major in sociology and economics.

 

Proud 4 year alum and featured vocalist of Northwestern's "WAA-MU Show".

First post college job was a sales rep in Dallas TX For Albert Nipon, Barry Bricken,  Pringle of Scotland and Drizzle Outerwear.

 

First restaurant manager job was for the Famous Deli in Evanston, IL. ( 1983 )

 

General Manager of The Original Chicago Claim Company on Clark St.

 

Opening General Manager for "Bubbie's Bagels and Blues", deli / jazz club.

Opening staff and featured bartender famous for his frozen margaritas of HEV'IN ON WALTON.

 

Guest solo artist @ HEV'IN ON WALTON.

 

First self-produced one-man show was at BOOMBALA'S on Lincoln Avenue.

 

His debut CD entitled " INTIMATE " was released in 1998.

Began career at Lettuce Entertain You on May 16, 1989 at UN GRAND CAFE.

 

John has been a waiter at one location for all 30 years ( Un Grand Cafe + Mon Ami ).

 

He was voted Favorite Waiter by Skyliner Newspaper in 2001.

 

Created Vincent Van Dough Desserts in 1988 with his famous Triple Chip Cookie and Chocolate Bombs.

Has performed at Toulouse, Yvette's, Royal George Theater,  Mayne Stage, Vittum Theater, Mercury Theater, DePaul's Fullerton Stage, Remains Theater, Cricket's and numerous clubs around the country.

 

John and his husband, David Izaguirre currently reside in Wheeling IL with their two puppies, Claudio and Alexi.

 

John loves to swim and play volleyball.

John has waited on many famous people over his tenure at Lettuce: Oprah, Harrison Ford, Donny Osmond, Placido Domingo, Phil Donahue, Martin Short , John Cleese.


John was on the executive board of WHO'S THAT GIRL, a Howard Brown event.

 

John hates maple syrup, coffee, cinnamon, waffles, pancakes and fishy fish.

John's nationality is Irish and English.

 

John is currently working on a new CD entitled LEGACY and he hopes to release it in 2019.

 

John is also currently writing a book about his 30 years as a waiter. The title of the book is "I HEARD YOU THE FIRST TIME". He hopes to publish the autobiographical book in 2019.
